Made after the original bust of John Paul Jones (1747- 1792) by the French sculptor Jean Antoine Houdon in 1780. This bust is made of plaster covered with terracotta and stands 28” High. John Paul Jones is best remembered as the “Father of the US Navy” and its first hero. His famous words “I have not yet begun to fight” were shouted at a British captain in a 1779 naval battle (USS Bonhomme Richard vs Serapis). Circa 1890.
