Windsor fanback side chair. Seven spindle example with arched and shaped crest rail and nicely turned stiles joined to shield-shaped seat on baluster and ring turned splayed legs joined by H-stretcher. The whole in old green paint. Stamped “I. Clark”. Josiah Clark was a late 18th/early 19th century documented cabinet maker in the Hartford area as referenced in “The Windsor Style in America”- by Charles Santore.
Connecticut, circa 1800.
16 1/2" seat height.
Structurally good with old shrinkage crack in seat supported by metal brace.
